Touchpaper Star contains twenty-four love poems and a sequence about death. Written over the last ten years, these poems are already acclaimed with individual publication and Hennessy Award nominations. Now, together in one volume, their impact can be fully appreciated.
Tender yet unsentimental, the poems in Touchpaper Star are intimate and universal. Everyone who has been in love will recognise something of their own experience in the title sequence. And the moving long poem, “In Recess”, treats the subject of death with clarity and empathy.
